Western New Mexico University Museum is the home of the NAN Ranch Collection—the largest and most complete collection of Mimbres materials in existence from a single prehistoric Mimbres site, and the largest and most comprehensive permanent interpretative exhibition of Mimbres pottery and artifacts in the world.

The Mimbres culture created these wares from 9th to 12th century in the American Southwest. Read more about the NAN Ranch and this collection in New Mexico Magazine.

More collections are also available for viewing, as well as original classrooms to enjoy. The table in the center of the photo above? Artifacts you can handle! Enjoy a sampling of photographs of the table. This museum is very enjoyable – definitely visit when you are in Silver City.

The ring is a shell bracelet.
