I’m doing a show!

The opportunity was excellent, and the timing wasn’t bad; I’m working more now than I used to, but I still have some free time, and there’s lots of lead time. I will be in the St. Louis Park Art Fair on Saturday, September 22nd. It’s a first-time show made possible by a St. Louis Park Arts and Culture Grant received by St. Louis Park resident Alysha Boie. As a local maker, she envisioned organizing a local event to celebrate local artists and build community pride. There will be about 60 artists, food trucks, and a community art project.

The venue is outside, but under a permanent canopy that is used as an ice rink in the winter, converted to a turfed field that is used for soccer, lacrosse, and the like, and taken down to the dry concrete slab for community events – such as this art fair.

I juried in with both beadwork and weaving; to date, I have seven pairs of earrings, five necklaces done or in process, and three scarves completed. I have my work cut out for me – next on my list, after writing this, is to gather together my assorted notes of things to do and buy. I have a 10×10′ booth to fill, and while I want it to look professional, I don’t know if I will continue to do shows, so I don’t want to spend more than I need. I love the professional look with nice boxes, custom stickers, lovely business cards – we will see how far beyond new business cards that I will go. Maybe make a logo, and create an ink stamp of that logo? So many possibilities – this is exciting!

After the lists, I’m going to weave. Wow.
