If I were in Venice…

…I’d be visiting the Palazzo Mocenigo. One exhibit I’d want to see is Alexandre Vassiliev. L’eleganza in esilio (Elegance in exile). Vassiliev is a collector of the costumes of the Ballets Russes of Sergei Diaghilev of the early 1900s, and the lavish fashion dresses of the time worn by Russian expats. The exhibit is on display until January 6th. Eva Domijan, a fashion blogger from Slovenia, has blogged in English about the exhibition with many, many picture of the dresses and their beads in her blog, Dressful.

I’d also be visiting the Museum of Glass for Ercole Moretti. Un secolo di perle veneziane. Google Translator tells me that is Ercole Moretti, a century of Venetian beads, also on display until January 6th. Pictures are of chevron beads and millefiori.

I speak no Italian, but that would be just fine! I’d be happy just to look.
