Brian Jungen currently has an exhibit at the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C. I recognized his work using shoes — he makes striking totems and masks with popular athletic shoes and gear. Some of his works were massive (with lawn chairs, plastic containers, full-sized clothing) and some more intimate (sporting goods). All of it is striking and accessible. This show will be on display until August 8th.
