2020 & 2021 McKnight Book Artist Fellows


The Minnesota Center for Book Arts, with the McKnight Foundation, offers two fellowships each year to mid-career artists living and working in Minnesota. Following are samples of the work on display in an exhibition closing soon at MCBA.

Mary Hark has her studio, HARK! Handmade Paper, in St. Paul, Minnesota. Her work is collected by museums internationally, and is a professor in the Design Studies Department at the University of Wisconsin-Madison

Paula McCartney makes artist’s books, photographs, and ceramics. Her photographs have been exhibited nationally, and her books are included in museums nationwide. She has two published monographs.

Sonja Peterson has received grants from the Jerome Foundation and the Minnesota State Arts board, in addition to her McKnight Fellowship. For more of her work, see her Burnet Fine Art & Advisory exhibition.

Lisa Nebenzahl’s practice includes sculpture, installation, historical printing processes, and collage. Her work is in national museum collections.
